Refund policy

Overview

We want you to be happy with your order. Art of Jock is a working studio shop, and many of the comics and signed items available here are Jock’s personal comp copies or limited editions. As such, these products behave differently from standard retail inventory. This policy explains how we handle returns and refunds fairly for both customers and the studio.


Comp Copies, Signed Items & Condition

Most comics on the store are Jock’s personal studio comp copies. Minor handling, printing or storage quirks are normal for comp copies and are not treated as defects. See our FAQ for more details on condition and grading expectations.

Studio comp copies are intended for collecting and display rather than guaranteed grading outcomes. If condition is important for display, photos of individual copies can be requested before purchase.


Defective vs Non-Defective Returns

We make a distinction between defective/incorrect items and non-defective returns.

Defective or incorrect items include things like:

  • wrong item sent

  • missing signatures or personalisation (if purchased)

  • major damage such as deep creases that break colour, tears, crushed corners or significant foil gouges

Defective or incorrect items may be returned for a refund or replacement where stock allows. If a replacement is not available, we will issue a refund for the item and any postage where applicable. Please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist.


Non-Defective Returns (Change of Mind, Preference, Condition)

Non-defective returns include things like:

  • change of mind

  • preference or buyer’s remorse

  • condition concerns for display or grading

These are handled as follows:

United Kingdom:
Non-defective returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery. Return postage is the responsibility of the customer and items must arrive back in the same condition as sent.

Non-UK:
Non-defective returns are not accepted on international orders due to shipping distances and customs processes. Condition or grading-related returns are not accepted on non-UK orders.


Signed, Limited & Exclusive Items

Signed, limited, exclusive, AP or one-of-a-kind studio items may only be returned if defective/incorrect or by prior agreement.


Merchandise (T-shirts, Mugs, Books, Accessories)

Merchandise such as shirts, mugs, books and accessories may be returned within 30 days if unused and in original condition. Return postage is the responsibility of the customer unless the item is defective or incorrect. If you would like a different size or variant, the fastest way is to return the original item and make a new order once the return is accepted.


How to Start a Return

To request a return, contact us at: contact@artofjock.com
Please provide:

  • order number

  • item(s) you’d like to return

  • reason for the return

  • photos if the item is defective/damaged


Condition of Returned Items

Returned items must be received in the same condition as sent. We may decline a refund if the item is not returned in acceptable condition or appears altered.


Arrival, Inspection & Refunds

We’ll notify you once your return has been received and inspected. If approved, you’ll be refunded to your original payment method. Please note that your bank or payment provider may take a few days to process the refund.


Damaged in Transit

If your order arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos of the outer packaging and the item so we can assist. Postal damage must be reported promptly.


Non-Returnable Items

The following cannot be returned:

  • personalised items

  • digital goods

  • gift cards

  • hazardous materials (if ever applicable)

  • items marked as final sale

  • non-UK non-defective returns
